I have found two compilations on Irma Motto Jazz out of Italy that I can't stop
playing. The "Groovy: a collection of rare jazzy club tracks" outdoes the
MasterCuts series because of the mix of the type of music. There are latin,
soul, jazz, lounge cuts. It is rare that I like every single song on a
compilation, but this one is right on.
The track list is:
IRMA 484128-2
Milt Jackson - The Metal Mether
Patti Austin - That's Enough for Me
The Aquarians - Bayu Bayu
Liza Minnelli - Use Me (Yes! The Bill Withers classic. Everyone was soul in
the seventies even Liza Minnelli.)
24 Carat Black - 24 Carat Black
Claudio Roditi - Snow Samba
Deodato - Superstrut
Esther Phillips - Home is where the Hatred is (The is my favorite song on
this compilation. She does Gil Scott Heron justice.)
Bob Scaggs - Hercules
Baricentro - Afka
Asha Puthli - Right Down Here
Webster Lewis - El Bobo
Nancy Ames - Carcara
Steve Stills & Al Kooper - Season of the Witch (Now I know where the Pharcyde
got one of those samples.)
The other compilation is Jungle Jazz (IRMA 484242-2)
The only song I could have done without is the Outside song.
Wax Doctor - Atmospheric Funk
Roni Size - It's a Jazzy Thing
Jonny L - This Time
Alex Reece - Pulp Fiction
Photek - The Rain
Ohm Guru - Tokio Station meditation remix
Kid Loops - Back to the lab
Zion Spirit - Demons at play
Hidden Agenda - Is it love?
Outside - The Big 'F' Reunion
Typhorns - Private Eden
Ballistic Brothers - Come on simon templar remix
Bubble Jet - Emotionelectric
D-Note - Flesh and Blood
