Here's a couple of records that I have recently purchased that I think
may be of interest to the people on the list.

Jenny Devivo : My Dad (L'attitude)

Bought this as she had a reasonable single released on Pussyfoot
a while ago and on first listen thought that it sounded very
similar to Skylab but with female vocals. On closer inspection I saw
that it was produced by Tosh and Kudo (Skylab/Love T.K.O./Major Force)
so my first impressions were probably accurate. Can't really describe
it any better than that but if you like Skylab or anything a bit more
experimental then check this out. (It conatains two mixes of the title
track and another 3 songs so is also good value which makes a change.)

Coco And The Bean : Killing Time (Mantra)

Didn't really care much for their last single (Western Ways) but this
one finally fulfills the promise shown on their first couple of singles
released about 4/5 years ago. If you like slow Hip Hop beats with
soulful female vocals then this comes highly recommended. It comes
in 6 different mixes (plus a couple of instrumentals) in a variety of
styles from a very slow Ambient/Jazz mix to a midtempo funky Hip Hop
mixes which sounds similar to their remix of Suga Bullit's Move (which
is cut up alongside the last Wreckage Inc. single on that particular
mix - I suppose if you just sample your friends' records then you
won't get sued).

[Also worth checking out is a compilation released last year on Natural
Response entitled The East Coast Project showcasing some of Edinburgh's
finest including the aforementioned Coco And The Bean and Suga Bullit
along side the likes of DJ A1/Awun/Eh!Wun (Awunsoundz from the Headz
comp), Blackanized (previously known as M.F.Outanational again on
MoWax's Headz) and Freshly Squeezed amongst others. If your into Hip
Hop/Trip Hop with Jazz overtones then this is well worth buying.]
