RE: the trip-hop/hip-hop thing

I have to admit that I'm no expert on hip-hop, so Ive sat back and
read this thread for a bit tho I started it by equating trip/hip-hop.
This wasnt meant as a definition to stick by but really I was just
replying to a question from someone who heard lots of terms on the list
and wanted a quick explanation. If you look on the sleeve notes of
Smokers Delight, (Nightmares on Wax) theres a quote from EASE saying
"A message to Mr and Mrs Media" where he suggests basically that Trip-hop
is nothing new and that the media have renamed it to remarket it, which
is where my kind of flippant remark came from (accompanied by a ;)). But
I would still say that Trip Hop is far from totally new, and it clearly
comes *from* Hip-hop. That doesnt mean I dont like it!
