yes there was, and i wish it would make a return! "terminator x speaks w/his
hands" and eric b. & rakim's "beats for the listner's" both qualify. for me,
buckshot le fonque's "some sh** @ 78bpm" qualifies!

this one makes me feel more iffy... i wasn't at the block parties in ny
(i'm a native inmate of cali), so i don't know for sure. however, it seems
to me, that one would have started rapping over instrumental versions of
popular tunes, and then come up w/the idea of using just the breaks to make
it more exciting (and more personal).
