when i said that i was suprised that the above groups have laid the
foundation for my taste in aj, i just meant that it is amazing how you can
see the evolution of this music over the last decade. speaking of d.c. lee,
how does her last solo album sound ? (it's the one with her face surrounded
by flowers on the cover.)
took a listen to maysa's solo album and there were a couple of songs that i
liked, but i don't know if it was enough to make me want to purchase it.
had also picked up shara nelson's old CD, (cooltempo fire?) which was good
and am now looking forward to her new release which should be out on EMI.

are you sure it was tracey? i thought the singer in working week was

paul weller is married to one of the singers on guru's 1st "jazzmatazz"
d.c.
lee, so it shouldn't be a complete surprise, besides the style council was
quite influencial...

i question whether "pendulum vibe" was joi cardwell, i couldn't find her
last
name anywhere on the cover. that album was produced by dallas austin i
think,
which explains the sound. check out her earlier stuff on eightball
records.
maysa leak has shone on 2 incognito records (vibes, tribes & scribes and
positivity). she has a solo record (maysa) but i haven't heard any of it.
then there's always the vocalists from massive attack--shara nelson &
nicolette.
i have a single by shara called "down that road" that i like, and there's a
nicolette single called "no government" that i've heard some good mixes of.
