I don't know much about the particular track you're talking about, but I know
back in the days of 90 and 91 the tunes considered acid jazz were a lot
housier, especially the stuff from New York. If you listen to the first few
Fat Jazzy Grooves there is a much housier feel than there is today. The
earliest stuff on Eightball like Groove Thing and even early Giant Step is also
very house oriented. I have an old 12" by Giant Step (before they were called
Groove Collective) on Eightball that has mostly house mixes, but this shouldn't
be confused with the other Giant Step that released some house tracks on A&M
way back. The club I used to hit to hear aj in those days played a cool
combination of hip hop, house, and some rare groove.

Speaking of the old days, does anyone know anything about Model 500? I have a
song by them on a techno comp called "Only for the Headstrong" and the song
sounds very much like the experimental/electronic stuff out now.
