Sorry to continue an off-topic thread, but I gotta jump in here. I assume
Kevin is describing the 4AD compilation, and not Dead Can Dance
themselves, as the only comment above that applies to Dead Can Dance is
'Unique Stuff'. Dead Can Dance are best described as 'ethnic'. Ethnic
because their musical influences range from irish folk, to the middle
east, to native music of both american continents, to medieval european
music, to.... you get the picture. The main band members are Brendan
Perry and Lisa Gerrard. Lisa has recently put out a solo album on 4AD and
their was talk of 'different musical directions', so the band may be
history, which is a shame, beacuse with a few exceptions, these guys were
on a level by themselves. I've searched for similiar stuff for about
three years, and there is none. The beats on some of their stuff are
just crazy, beass deeper than the grand canyon. And the production on
their later CD's is impeccable. If you get a chance to listen to it on a
wicked stereo that's been set up properly it is mind-blowing. (This is the
disc you use when you're friend is going on and on and on about how LP's
are better than CD's and blah blah blah and you just want to shut him/her
up once and for all. Drop DCD's 'Into The Labryhinth' in the transport
and the argument is over. I've done it. It works.) Anyway, enough
off-topic raving. I think they're ammazing.

peace,
Jakub.
