If you like Tortoise, check out The Sea and Cake. I'd never heard of them
until I went to a show in San Francisco at Bimbo's. I was expecting the
headliner - Tortoise - to take the show, but The Sea and Cake ended up
being the scene-stealers. Crazy psychedelic stuff with the tunes being
bright and happy but strange and disturbing at the same time.
It was like the Elves had come out to dance, sing, and be merry around the
fire that they would later be using to sacrifice a small human child to the
gods.
Check them out if you get a chance...
