getting my feet wet

Dear Everyone Who Is Reading,
My name is Frank Stone Stickney. I am the productions
manager at WQFS 90.9 FM in Greensboro, NC. I have a jazz/ acid
jazz show there. Since I have been working there, I got
interested in music more than ever, and decided to get a job
at a cd store. The genre of music I fell in love with in our
little store was acid jazz, and for that reason I decided to
beef up my show ("Cool Licks", which used to be only jazz and
blues) with some acid jazz. My ability to do so has been
severely limited, however, due to the small size of our acid
jazz section. I'm not really sure it has been classified as a
section even, but is more scattered among jazz and hip/hop
depending upon the preference of the music director(s). Anyway,
I have come to this group for help in any number of ways. I
could use some help from record labels or anyone independently
putting out their work in the form of promotional copies. I
would in turn either work the music into our rotation, or treat
it as an underwriting project, with the record label mentioned
as a sponsor (or some similar deal). The other type of help I
am looking for is simply suggestions as to what to listen to,
what to play on the air--if I ever work out an underwriting
contract with a local business, maybe I could buy them myself.
I hope that you guys can help me as I try to do my part in the
global acid-jazz network. Thanks for your time.
