I just got "Pussyfoot 007 Pussy Galore" and I can't get enough of it. It
is 15 tracks full of James Bond 007 samples with some excellent beats
imbedded in the texture of the music. It seems not to be so much a
tribute to 007 as much as a fun-poking humor at its expense. Great LP.
I also got Better Daze's "One Street Over". Interesting mix of world
beats including samba and mambo. All around it's not the greates
production but I can definitely get into some of the songs. Does anybody
know of any calipso beat sampled music?
The rebirth of Cool vol. 6. WOW! There are tracks by Alex Reece, LTJ
Bukem, Lamb, Matt Cooper, Nicolette, The Jungle Brothers, Dave Angel and
Da Lata to name a few. This is probably one of my favorite records now.
I'm not sure how long it has been out, but I just got my hands on it.
They use all sorts of samples from carmen (the opera) to that 80s song
"Who could it be now". Awesome! If you don't have it, go out and get it!
On Ubiquity records I got "What's cookin'" and "Still Cookin'". It's nice
to hear some real instruments in my music every now and then. These
records are interesting. I'm not sure if they are great for mixing, but
they're great to chill out and listen to as a whole.
Finally I got (after such a long time) my own copy of "Headz" on Mo Wax.
This is old but it still makes me groove! :)
So...what's on your decks?
