Shunkichi Ishii,

I depends on your definition of improvisation. The one thing that really

defines Acid Jazz is its groove. Sure there are Acid Jazz groups (DJ
centered, traditional instrument centered or both) that improvise both on

the melodic, harmonic and percussive aspects of music. That one of the
beauties of this music but above all its groove music. Look at Salsa. Its

origins are Jazz, Spanish and African. It's basis is the groove but there

are moments of improvisation. I disagree with your statement "But, I
think the music which include the word of "jazz" have a part of
improvisation in it.". Jazz has its origins in the turn of the century
music from New Orleans which was dance music, groove music. Same stuff
different groove.

Subject: What is improvisation for Acid Jazz?

Hi, everyone.

I have been playing jazz in piano more than 10 years.
I was seeking mailing list about jazz and reached here.
I am a begginner of acid jazz, and it looks quite different
from traditional jazz. But, it's O.K. if it is stimulative.
But, I think the music which include the word of "jazz"
have a part of improvisation in it. Is there in acid jazz?
