Same here. IMHO it's *too* light, there's nothing in there that turns me
on. At least the "wooshy, gooshy" Bukem style has crankin' beats and
rollin' bass (and there aren't dolphin sounds in *every* tune :P ). I
picked up the Acid Lab single for the Wax Dr. and Mr. C remixes, not the
original version...
What I'm trying to say here is that yeah, it *is* a coffee table album
because listening to the music doesn't energize me, whereas listening to
Bukem, even though the vibe is chill and smooth, fills me with energy. I'm
not denying that it's innovative, it *is* a new direction in d&b, it's just
not exciting (for me, at least). If anyone wants to hear some really good
chill d&b that goes beyond what Bukem et al. are doing, I'd recommend
checking out stuff on the Echo Drop label...
BTW - Tim, where the hell did you see girls flooding the dancefloor when
Alex Reece was dropped?
BBTW - any NYC peeps can hear *my* take on smooth d&b tonight at Kung-Fu
lounge (XVI, 1st Ave & 1st St.)
later,
Dylan.
