After the coma-inducing Nearly God thing and the less than glowing reviews for his
newie, I was apprehensive about getting PMT. It is surprisingly not as crap as I'd
feared. It's got decent enough beats, most tracks have got a few hooks and pop-y
bits to keep one from falling asleep (ie. Nearly God). Both 'Christiansands' and
'Makes Me Wanna Die' are equal to the better tracks off of Maxinquaye.
And that Sky gentleman on 'Ghetto Youth' is a genius-Tricky apparently met him
while recording in Jamaica. The album was recorded in Jamaica. Blows the mind.
Now, just to further beat a dead horse, I'll add my two cents to the genius/crap
debate. He seems capable of creating brillant music when he wants to. However,
an uncanny skill for gargle phlegm while speaking does not make you even a
half-decent rapper or singer. Cheers.
