Well, he was in Deee-Lite in their 2 first albums (World clique
and Infinity within) but in their latest album (Dewdrops in the garden)
he only produced some of the songs.
I read that he was a bit tired of the kind of music they made in
Deee-Lite and that he wanted to take a little rest. He said that he
would be with them again soon.
Personally I think he just needed time to finish, release and
promote his own album, but I miss him in Deee-Lite...
The brazilian voice in his album is Bebel Gilberto, daughter of
famous Joao Gilberto (remember Girl from Ipanema?)
Regarding Towa Tei and Pizzicato five, they have worked together
in some remixes. U can find Towa Tei's remix of Catchy in P5's "TYO:
Big hits and jet lags". It's very cool, a la Maddona's Vogue-style.
He has made some more remixes I can't remember for them.
Also, in Bjork's Hyperballad cdmaxi (us edition at least) there's
a remix by Towa Tei that uses lots of samples from Technova. It's funny
when u listen to it...
If u like japanese pop music, u need to get "Sushy 3003, a
spectacular collection of japanese clubpop". Released on Bungalow in
Europe, it features lots of japanese cult bands like P5, Fantastic
plastic machine, Date of birth, etc. Most of the songs there are
produced or composed either by Yasuharu Konishi (P5) or Towa Tei. It's
really good.
