Ummm... I've mentioned Steve Coleman & M-BASE a quite a bit in this group
over the past few years, and as recently as month ago (announcing recent
his London gig. Which was amazing, BTW.)

The current "Curves of Life" CD, recorded live in Paris last year, is a
great introduction to what Steve Coleman is up to. It's a Five Elements LP,
but also features the rappers from the Metrics project one one track. And
David Murray. There's also a live Metrics LP, "The Way Of The Cipher" if
mad freestyle rapping is what you're after.

Steve's recent London gig was great - mostly improvised, as far as I could
tell. The sound felt quite laid back compared to the last time I saw him
(well, as laid back as it can be at 900bpm in 13 time.) No Reggie
Washington or Gene Lake, which was a shame (though the stand-ins Dave Dyson
and Sean Rickman were probably just as good.)
