Some recent findings:
Fatboy Slim - Better living through chemistry (Skint records)
I don't know anything about the band; I just bought it because of the
great press quotes on the cover: "A slice of methadrine soaked funk"
(SNC), "Chemical breakbeat for dancefloor abusers" (MUZIK), "...Drop
the needle on the record, elbow some room and ruck till you drop"
(MELODY MAKER). Good and funky party music.
Conversions - A K&D selection (Spray records/BMG Austria)
A compilation made - and mixed using vinyl! - by Kruder and
Dorfmeister. It's really good. Track listing:
Dat's cool + DJ unknown face
Searchin' + Dead calm
Come on + Ballistic brothers
Nu birth of cool + Omni trio
One and only + PFM
Find me + Skanna
Speechless drum & bass + Count basic K&D session
Visible from space + Hunch
Time zone + Spacelink
The lick + Early grey
Count Basic + The remix hit collection (Spray records/BMG Austria)
13 tracks and 7 of them are K&D remixes. I just love "Strange life"
with Valerie (of Galliano fame) on vocals.
The album sounds quite like Portishead in my mind, especially
Speechless could easily be mistaken for them.
