another bangs thang that showed up on 2 acid jazz comps on the scotti bros.
label (at least in the us). "lesson one" and "words from the motherland" are
both grooves overlaid w/didactic spoken word. the first deals w/racism as
shown by white musicians being more successful than the black innovators of
various musics (e.g. jazz, blues, rock & roll), and the second is a swahili
lesson intended to get blacks used to hearing an african language (and
thereby feeling more connected to their heritage). makes me wonder about mr.
bangs' ethnic extraction...
