It's a difficult question to answer. Are we talking about some of the innovative
musicians who made all of this possible or some of the DJ's etc, who helped to
kick off the "a-jazz" movement? I would rather stick with the former as many
seem to re-label some of the classic tunes as a-jazz. The list is endless and I
am sure that there are many on the a-jazz list who can list a number of
musicians DJ's etc as founders of the movement. In terms of the actual label,
many have cited Giles Peterson, was one of the first to coin the term acid Jazz
in the late 80's. Patrick Forge was also instrumental in those days as he
seemed to be in most of the places that Giles was DJing in. As for the real
founders of acid Jazz. How long is a piece of string?

This may seem vague, but there again so is the definition of the music itself.
