The second single from Freakpower's *More of Everything for Everyone* is
out. The most important thing I can offer for this list is a consumer's
advisory and you vinyl purists will not like it. I bought the vinyl and I
sorely regret it. First, a sticker on the vinyl lists one remix only on the
cd (not a big deal because you can clearly see the 3 remixes that are on the
vinyl). But, the worst part is that the CD has two extra remixes and they
are much better (and more to the general tendencies of the list).
I don't have the stuff handy but here goes with a description of the mixes:
The album mix: This is better than some of the following but it isn't an
essential song.
Todd Terry Mix: Well its Todd Terry and it goes bum . . . bum . . . bum .
. .hmmm. . .bum . .
I forget the next mix but it is electronic and repetitive and I don't like it.
Bass Bin Twins: This is a pretty funny remix. They do a "quick mix"
reconstruction for the song in question but very soon get bored (about 2
minutes in) and move on to whole bunch of other things (including Fried Funk
Food's "Freak of Da Week"). Any "cut and paste" early Coldcut fans left?
This is for you.
Small World (or something): Much smoother jazzier and interesting mix.
I forgot the last one (you see I do not own this mix) but it is pretty good.

Not an essential buy but the CD is a pretty diverse collection.

Non AJ current song favorite: Norma Waterson "Black Muddy River" (and no
I'm not a fan of the G Dead).
