Hey ho folks-

A few things going on to let you know about... the Eighth Dimension
collective out here in Orlando has been pretty busy lately. Quite a few new
releases happening and some freakin busyness enveloping the Q-skull make
for hurried times indeed. Here's the wassup:

NEW EIGHTH DIMENSION RELATED RELEASES:

PIMP DADDY NASH "2000 Zero Zero" 12" single (on Mephisto Records 010)
Freakin heaven to murgatroid style electro jazz funk from another soul-er
system... pop and lock to double mixes from the Pimp as well as a DJ BMF
(New Breed fame) mix that personifies funk infestation. Downtempo yet
charged with a hand-rolled glow. Proper.

Q-BURNS ABSTRACT MESSAGE "Enter/Other" 12" single (on Mephisto Records 009)
Massive psychedelic flute stomper from the one often referred to as "The
Q". A Ninjatunish assemblage of beats and a breakdown that'll make your
head spin around Linda Blair style, baby. Modern mellow yellow jazz mix
from Fluid Motion (Mephisto) and an electronic mayhem heavy orgasmatron mix
by Bahamut (Rajo/Black Magic Records).

MIXED EMOTIONS: JAZZ IN THE EIGHTH DIMENSION (on Delancey Street, UK)
Yep, this came out about a year ago as a self-released vinyl-only limited
thingie. The kind folks at Delancey Street have picked it up and now it is
out in a superior new vinyl pressing and compact disc.Contains a couple of
cuts each by DJ BMF, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Pimp Daddy Nash, and
Dubmarine. Acid jazz? Trip hop? Hip hop? Dub? All that mixed in a stinky
fresh stew, and certainly ready to rock any forward thinking dancefloor.
Note: the CD has 2 extra cuts- a strange jungle mix of "Wendy Lost In
Velvet" and an old Dubmarine collaboration with the mysterious AJ con-man
Bodhi Knapp. Yikes.

Someone mentioned this here earlier, but there is also a Q-Burns Abstract
Message cut on the new GIVE 'EM ENOUGH DOPE VOL. 3 on Wall Of Sound. This
is a stellar compilation all the way through (as we've come to expect from
this series) and I personally am thrilled to be on a compilation with Faze
Action's "In The Trees". Check it out.

DJ BMF has a mix CD upcoming on England's Internal Bass Records that is the
proverbial bombardier. Many amazing tracks will be represented (including
cuts by Mr. Scruff, Aim, Theivery Corporation , Down To The Bone, Better
Daze, etc) and the mix itself is top notch by one of the best AJ DJs
around. This should be out within a month, and will certainly rock your
world.

In Orlando, we have quite a few club nights going on. PHAT N JAZZY still
happens every Tuesday with DJ BMF, DJ Slack, and Q-Burns Abstract Message.
Upcoming guests include Mark Farina, Cooley's Hot Box, and Galactic. A top
night in the historic Sapphire Supper Club featuring live musicians, a
packed dancefloor, and martinis all over.

The newest big downtown club is Renaissance and they've just completed a
lounge type room upstairs that is almost like a seperate club. The
atmosphere is nice, and some great music happens in there. Wednesdays is
FLO: 3000 with Q-Burns Abstract Message and DJ Mot, Fridays sees AK1200
spinning the latest drum n bass flavor, and Saturdays DJ BMF takes over.
Check it out if in the area.

A few things I've been listening to that maybe you should seek...
BABY MAMMOTH - this is a CD only release on the essential Pork Records.
Steve Cobby of Fila Brazilia is nowhere in sight this time, though I
suspect he has a big hand in the production. The sound is classic Pork, and
actually hits me quicker than the last Fila Brazilia did. Jazzy and chill,
but with driving beats and an electronic flavor. If you know Pork, you know
the score.
HOLISTIC RECORDINGS - I've been really into the recent output of this
label, which has actually been compared to Pork on occassion. The mood is a
bit rougher though, with solid live percussion and instrumentation mixed
with electronics. The main acts are Universal Being and Fretless AZM,
though I hear these are just aliases for the work of one artist.
Nonetheless, the new albums just out from both are fantastic excursions in
rough cut instrumental future funk.
LASCELLES - The album is called "Rock Oil" on the fabulous Orange Egg
label. Quick comparisons would yell the word "Portishead!" though there is
a much different vibe going on underneath. Dare I say that this is actually
darker and moodier than the aforementioned Bristol band? If you can't
imagine this, than give this album a listen... a nice journey filled with
many complex moods and textures. Choice. Features the future hit songs
"Kill Me", "The Air Is Shit", and "Do You Like My Buddha".

.... oh and the PRINCE PAUL mix of DR. OCTAGON's "Blue Flowers". WAHOOOIE!

All right- that is all. Hope everything is well in AJ land... feel free to
contact me if you need any information... PEACEs

"There's an emphasis nowadays in hip-hop on how you're representing instead
of what you're representing. Think of the realms you travel to create what
hasn't been created- take it to where it hasn't been taken. Art can always
be improved upon. It's constant travel, so you can't really trip off it."
