The innovations which Jhelisa has made in her style with the second album
makes me regret how many of the tracks on the lp just fade out. Toward
the end of a number of the songs, the musicians really begin to jam and
Jhelisa's vocals begin to swoon into beautiful and mysterious
abstractions. Then as soon as I begin to get sucked-in to some of the
best abstract soul I've heard, the song fades out. Now this probably
plays into my vehement hatred of the fade out in general . . . but I
think it's an extreme shame in the case of the Language Electric LP where
Jhelisa seems to constantly try to expand herself. The singles from the
LP contain mixes which really explore the possibilities of Jhelisa's
vocalizations, and though the LP does this most of the time as well, I
hate to see the explorations cut short.
