Wow. This surprises me a bit. I thought the first Buckshot LeFonque album
was fair (at best). I did like some of the songs on it (i.e., Blackwidow
Blues), but most of them sounded like bad hip hop/jazz fusion that was way
overproduced. I feel guilty ripping on the album, but most of the music was
just terrible. I didn't find much original about it and definitely not much
acid jazz IMO.

As for the new one, I listened to it and the James Brown tribute was super
groovy. The rest of it sounded like it should have been recorded for GRP and
played on the lite jazz stations. I was skipping songs after about a minute
or so (and I never do that the first time I listen to something). Once
again, I felt that very little was original, very little aj, and
unfortunately very little that was good music.

The thing is, I want to like both of these releases, but at this point I
can't. They're bad. I'm going to give the new full length another good
listen this weekend just to be fair.

Guess it goes to show how varied personal tastes can be...
