Hi people,
Yeah, I'm sorry but this is shameless plugging!! Damian Rafferty the editor
of Fly! internet music zine wanted me to give you this message about a new
discussion page in Fly!

<< djmix part two is now up and live and also i have made the bulletin board
live so have a look (it now looks quite different) and you can get to it
from the front page or by following the link from the old mail page. the
full url though is http://www.fly.co.uk/wwwboard/ i'd really appreciate it
if you could spread the word about that it is there not just for comments
about fly but also for ideas and discussion on the music scene as a whole
and we welcome people plugging their own releases etc on it.

cheers, damian

We sincerely hope that this page will inspire some interesting discussion on
the music scene that we are all into.
Thankyou for your time.
Also while I'm here I thought I'd just give you a few recommended albums.
Ok I just got hold of Erykah Badu's album and I strongly recommend it (even
if you aren't totally into Soul). A beautiful voice and a pretty unique vibe
(except for the odd commercial soul sound).
On Cup of Tea records there are new albums out at the moment. The first is
by the wonderful, laid-back Purple Penguin called De-tuned. Monk & Canatella
have finally made it to album status with 'care in the community'. The
background beats and soundz are totally unique inna kinda f****d up way, but
it may take a time for you to get used to the singer..... give it a chance as
its worth it in the end. Also there's an interesting album by a collective
known as State of Mind, which gives you laid back drum and bass, folky (??!!)
vibes and that irrepressible Bristol vibe. There is also a limited mix cd out
of C.ofT tracks by a local Bristol dj called Scott Hendy. He really mixes the
vibes up with some great drum and bass, dub, and the familiar abstract beatz.
(BTW) I DON'T work for Cup of Tea!!!!!
peace,
Phil
ps If there are any more dj's out there who would like to submit their Mix
Tapes for review in Fly! please let me know either at phil@fly.co.uk or
