drum'n jazz

May be off-topic or five-years-too-late (central-european guy from provincial
area meets LONDON, you know), but last week I stumbled over the Time Out
announcement of OSMOSIS featuring Giles Peterson playing "drum'n jazz" tunes in
the lounge. Unfortunately, I thought that I'd better join Logical
Progression. Disappointing. Besides: they've played some stuff in the earth
room that I could not ascribe to any (yet known to me) category. Since using
these messy, variant, groovy, hectic beats comparable to drum'n bass stuff but
rather with natural kits (the return of the ride) and SWINGIN', sometimes
acoustic sounding, bass, I came to the conclusion that they must have ment this
with the term "drum'n jazz", didn't they ? dyaknowwaddamean ? Are there any
compilations out that meet the description that I've given ? Will there be life
after death ? Is Acid Jazz dead and did GP really say that ?

Bless you the swingin' god,
CGJ
