You must only be familiar with the mid-80's Grover because his Jazz-Funk
stuff on Motown circa '71 to '79 is as Jazzy as it gets. I agree his
Kenny-G'ish stuff of the '80's and '90's is supermarket jazz but his 70's
stuff is very nice.
He played with the likes of Bob James, Idris Muhammed, Ron Carter, Hubert
Laws, Bernard Purdie, Ralph McDonald, Harvey Mason, & so on.
