I've seen Galliano live several times, from the (pre-first-album) early
days at Dingwalls to more recently at the Brighton Jazz Bop. I have to agree
with everything in the original post, Galliano are an amazing live act. The
vibe they generate at their shows is incredible. At the Jazz Bop their was
an amazing moment when half of the audience were on the stage dancing with
the band, and each band member was soloing in turn. When it came to the
drummer's solo nobody could see him 'cause he was hidden by a mass of
rythmically moving bodies. With one word from Rob the whole crowd crouched
so the drummer could be seen, after which Rob shouted "bring the vibe" and
everyone jumps into the air with one movemment. I thought the stage was
going to fall down :) What a night!
I've also heard rumours that they're not going to make another album, which
would be a real shame, 'cause I don't think they ever reached their full
potential on vinyl.
Paul.
