I think you may have the two James Taylors mixed up here mate. There is
a James Taylor who is in his 50's, sort of American rock music, who used
to knock about with Linda Ronsdstat. I'm assuming this is the unfunky
guy you mean!

The other James Taylor plays hammond organ and covered a version of the
Starskey and Hutch theme.

Maybe you do mean this one, but to say he aint funky is like saying
James Brown is not the Godfather of Soul!
