Can't tell ya about the Speed Garage cd - the garage trend is little more
than that for me - weakly produced house with jungle basslines. Same for
big beat - weakly prod uptempo hip-hop breaks (stolen usually) with acid
b-lines and corny hip-hop voc samples on top.

Anyways, the price is not due to the strong dollar - for the pound is even
worse. japanese, italian, nordic, ect prices may have dropped as a
result, but not british. Most likely the cd was just offered at a just
price from the distributor or label. kinda like those K7 releases outta
Germany (Kruder & Dorfmeister mix, and freestyle files 2CD). I got both
for 12-13 bucks.
