portishead-beth gibbons faces audience, sings!

they put on a pretty good show at the hammerstein last night in new
york. for about the first hour, it was essentially exactly what's on
the album. but by the time they got to sour times, beth started really,
really belting it out, and effectively turned the show from a yawner to
a hey, not bad.
nothing to see, however.
