Have to agree here. Camel Bobsled Race was released (on all formats
including vinyl) in the UK yesterday and its a bit of a major
disappointment (to me at least especially since Q-Bert and Shadow are
probably my two favourite artists of the moment). Of course the beats
are great but you've all heard them before and the scratching is
better than mere mortals can achieve (on the whole) but it doesn't
stop the thing from being a bit boring. The Shadow bits are just his
beats looped and Q-Bert once again drags out 'Change The Beat' and a
few other scratch standards. Understandably there are some good bits
(Midnight In A Perfect World, The Number Song) but they're few and far
between and the whole thing doesn't gel together very well. Definitely
pick it up to make up your own mind but don't expect the mind-blowing
piece of wax that I was because you won't get it.
