Hey all,

I thought it was about time to sum up the year with a short list of the best
tunes of the year. First off, their's one outstanding winner that I still go
off to (eventhough I've heard it a gazillion times). You all know what I'm
talking about...

1. REPRAZENT's "BROWN PAPER BAG": An amazing track that changes basslines no
less than three times and with on of all times best breaks (with that
"eeeeeeee") deservese no other place than first.

2. If you haven't noticed it there's new player on the electronic dance
music scene namely SWEDEN. Labels like SVEK, DOT, HYBRID, CODE RED, ANONYM
REC, GUNGELIGUNG REC and LOOP have all been putting out the most innovative
and groundbraking techno and house music I've heard in years. Look for
artist like CARI LEKEBUSCH, ADAM BEYER, QUANT, FRIEND, LENK, ALEXI DELANO,
LA CIENDA HONDURAS and PIGFOURCE and you'll know I'm not writing this only
to hype my fellow countrymen.

3. ERYKAH BADU. Saviour of so many cold and rainy afternoons. Not much to
say about this gal. Erykah, thank you for being with us!

4. Before I go I have to mention the FRENCH SCENE that finally showed it
self on the big scale for the rest of the world. It "started" out with Daft
Punk but it proved to contain so much more talent. I want to mention ALEX
GOPHER, ETIENNE DE CRECY, AIR, TRANKILOU and DJ GILBR. But also on the
hip-hop side the frenchies have shown alot of talent. Check out "Entre deux
mondes" from ROCCA (also to be found on the soundtrack to LA HAINE as one of
the rappers in LA CLIQUA), mixtapes and tracks from the DOUBLE H posse (DJ
crew with DJ LBR, CUTKILLER, CRAZY B and DEE NASTY) and I'm sure you'll
agree with me.
