Azymuth -- Carnival . . . LP or CD. . . $16.99
Far Out (UK), 1996 Condition: New Copy
Surprisingly great recording by this legendary Brazilian fusion group.
Surprising because it's so good, and waaay better than anything they've
done in the past 10 or 15 years. The sound is nice and stripped down, and
resembles their good early work much more than it does their more recent
stuff. Joe Davis recorded this in Rio last year, and he took a lot of care
with the recording. The group sounds tight and jazzy, and they lay down
some great electric Brazilian grooves with lots of great electric piano.
Features a few remakes -- like "Jazz Carnival" and "Tudo Que Voce Podia
Ser" -- plus some nice originals.
Maybe you should write them & ask if it's on that one? It being on Far
Out, it sounds like a good bet.
They've also got--
Azimuth -- Linha Do Horizonte / Aguia Nao Come Mosca . . . CD . . . $16.99
RB (UK), 1975 Condition: New Copy
Great CD that compiles the first two Azimuth records, both of them with
loads of funky electronic grooves, and lots of weird moogy bits. Very deep,
with lots of tracks that would appeal to steppers and hip hoppers, plus
fans of the Now Sound section. Some nice Brazilian jazz too! (see
individual titles in the LP section for more info)
