This is a disjointed and not really very professional Press Release,
Feb. 26, 1997:
OM Records signs the very talented
San Francisco-based electronic band
Soulstice.
Soulstice is two buddies who play samplers, effects boxes, keyboards,
komputers and other scientific things all live over the wonderfully,
searing voice of their female vocalist Gina. The final member is DJ
Mei-Lwun, who cuts it up on two decks and is as versatile with his
knowledge of hip-hop, experimental soundz, jazz, house etc...
Welcome to a new way of music.....
Over the last 6 months they've been performing in large and small venues
and regularly throw down with their favorite poet/MC, Jamalski - who now
lives just outside San Francisco. Their album is being recorded now and
will feature tracks with and without Jamalski....some crazy shit no
doubt....Soulstice also worked extensively on CD-Rom portion of the
forthcoming OM-Release "Deep Concentration", programming the over 250
different samples.
Check them out this Friday, February 28th at 9pm. at 111 Minna Street
(it's an art gallery) along with another artist we've recently signed to
the label - Terra Deva.
Terra is currently recording her album as well and it will be one of the
most anticipated records out of San Francisco this year. Imagine Nina
Simone meets the Cocteau Twins and then throw in the ill underground
drum & bass, house, hip-hop production and sneak in a few incredible
baselines and there you go. Meaningful music....no boundaries....no
classification....the Left Coast Flow.
