I have a tapedeck pluged to my computer, so its pretty easy recording
music as Aiff.
As for Realaudio i dont have the opportunity to run a Ra-server, but i
still might be able to put up Ra files wich people can download IF they
run a Ra-server of their own (correct me if im wrong, but you cant
listen to Ra-files straight off your own puter unless you run a
Ra-server,right?).
Another thing, I would guess that more people have the chance to listen
to Aiff than Ra. (is ra unix/linux/sun compatible?).
The discspace shouldnt be a problem. Makeme.com isnt on my own server,
its a
web-hotel at one of my employers servers. I just talked to the sys-adm,
and he said it was ok as long as it didnt take up TOO much space. (if i
zipped the aiff files, there should defenetly not be a problem).
So, as i see it the web-thing could work as follows:
-I'll keep a news-section where people can get a general idea of whats
going on and how far the projects gotten.
-A list of whos doing what + some personal info 'bout each person.
-Aiff files (maybe zipped) for people to download, + info about each
artist/track.
(the artists OR the one collecting the music-contributions would
have to send me tapes or aiff files)
-Artwork/linernotes/etc.
-Some background info on the AJ-mailinglist and the Compilation-project
incase any "outsiders" should drop by.
Does anyone have any advice? Im pretty sure ive overlooked something...
