Speaking of Carlos (of whom I'm quite a fan - it's hereditary on my Dad's
side) I heard some great stuff I hadn't heard before over the Xmas period.
Firstly "Illuminations" by Devadip Carlos Santana & Alice Coltrane, from
1974, which has just been re-released. This is basically Santana does the
jazz thing with strings and harp, and it sounds wonderful. I also heard
"Song of the Wind" (from "Caravanserai") for the first time. Amazing. What
I hope though is that CBS get around to releasing "Oneness" on CD...
ObjAj (sorta): anyone else heard the Chaka Khan/Me'shell collaboration
"Never Miss The Water", from the new "Epiphany" best-of? _very_ funky, in a
sort of uptempo Rufus style, but with the Me'shell/David Gamson touches
that press all the right buttons with me. Another good thing on this comp
is (bizarrely) a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere". You'd be hard
pressed to tell the source unless you caught the name Christine McVie in
the writer credit.
