QJ's _Summer in the City_ is also on _I Heard That_
-- a compilation on A&M Records 1976.

The original is by Lovin' Spoonful, a 1973 Grammy Award winner
for best instrumental arrangement.

A DJ friend says that _The Roots_ use _Summer in the City_
on their second album (?? - the latest one). Actually, that
brings up a question I've had for a long time... _The Roots_
album _Do You Want More_ (Geffen 1994) starts the track
numbers at 18. And the next album starts off at 34. Where
are tracks 1-17? On another album already released? Or is this
a Star Wars thang -- where they plan to release the beginning
of the series later? Anyone know?

About The Justice System's album _Rooftop Soundcheck_
(MCA Records 1994).... I went to school with one of the
two rappers - Jahbaz. They kinda fell off -- a one-hit wonder.
Funny thing is, the one-hit was _Summer in the City_ -- it
even got an MTV video. But the true gem on the album is a
track called _Dedication to Bambaataa_!!! Don't know his
whereabouts.?.!.?....

: quincy jones' version of "summer in the city" is available on a comp
called
: "beginning digging" that i bought at ameoba records in berkeley several

:
: i have also heard "summer in the city" sampled by a jazzy-hip-hop band
: called justice system-- a really nice record from about 3 years ago--
