I AM CURIOUS WHAT YOU MEAN BY RAGGA MUSIC. I CAN
RECOMMEND MUSIC THAT HAS RAGGA-STYLE VOCALS BUT
IT RANGES FROM BEATZ-MACHINE MUSIC TO TRADITIONAL
DUB RAGGAMUFFIN (a la Jah Stitch) TO A NYC-BASED BAND
(Ska-danks on Elecktra) TO HIP-HOP (a la Jamalski on Sony).
I'M CURIOUS TO FIND OUT WHAT GROUPS YOU ARE
LISTENING TO AND WHETHER THESE ONES I MENTIONED
INTERSECT WITH YOUR TASTES. MAYBE RAGGA AND RAGGAMUFFIN
HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACHOTHER.

ALSO, IF YOU WANT SOME DUBBED-OUT SH*T, CHECK OUT
C&S RECORDS' _RAGGAJAZZ_. THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL. VERY
EASY TO GET ON CD. NOT ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BUT IN THE
RAGGA-STYLE / DOWNTEMPO-AJ-SORT-OF-NOT-TOTALLY WAY.

AND ABOUT SHABBA RANKS AND BUJU BANTON. I HOPE THEY
BOGLE THEIR COMMERCIALIZED WOMEN-ARE-GOOD-4-1-THING
BUTTS OFF THE STAGE.

: Dear list,
:
: I recently discovered this wonderful music called RAGGA and I have to say

: I'm totally blown away. (Before I thought that the ragga scene was made
up
: by Shabba Ranks and Buju Banton...stupid me!)
:
: The problem is that Ragga releases are extremely rare where I live
: (Sweden)and this makes me sad. So if anyone can tell me where I can get
: up-to-date dubplates or CDs mailwise it would make my day.
:
: BTW, I heard this Red Rat fellow on a London radio station and it was
pretty
: amazing. As I understand it he's quite new on the scene, does anyone have

: additional info? (Albums, singles, collaborations, anything?)
:
: Oups, almost forgot, are there any good ragga mailing lists out there?
:
: Peace,
:
