In an effort to carry out some home improvements, I ventured into a Pottery
Barn shop this morning. My first surprise was hearing Groove Collective
being pumped around the store. Next, I noticed that Pottery Barn is now
selling the "Pottery Barn AcidJazz" collection! And it's not such a bad
compilation either:

groove collective lift off
sharpshooters heavyweight
the jazzhole gotta b everything
paul scriver upswing
sound assembly 95 degrees but cool
exodus quartet 18th street
baby buddah heads baby buddah bounce
raw stylus 37 hours in the usa
abstract truth get another plan
greyboy singles party
count basic what's up

One could draw all sorts of inferences from the acid jazz genre being
promoted by furniture stores, but it must be a good thing on the whole.

On a different note, does anyone know anything about the new Diana Brown
release? Is it in the same vein as Masterplan, Sun Worshippers, etc.? I
can't say I've heard anything by her since those days. Is Barrie K Sharpe
still around?

Finally, I see DJ Spooky has some sort of event with Ben Neill at Saint
Ann's in Brooklyn Heights next Friday. The last I heard of Spooky he had an
exhibition/installation in a gallery in Chelsea and, according to ArtForum,
is involved somehow in the Whitney's '97 Biennial, so I've no idea what to
expect of this 'event'. Can anyone shed some light on what the format might be?

Thanks in advance for any help

James
