I gotta give props to Ringo. The BEATles weren't about amazing drum solos
or outstanding musicianship, but great tunes, and Ringo served well. I know
many pro drummers who dig Ringo, and Charlie Watts for that matter, simply
because they have groove discipline. If you've ever worked or jammed with a
drummer who likes to change patterns every 2 bars or play "wipeout" for 8
minutes, I'm sure you appreciate what groove discipline is.
BTW, the Beatles Anthology contains some pretty cool samplable stuff, even
some interesting breaks (played by Mr. Starkey himself), if you know where
to look.
