By mining do you mean collecting or working with them? I've been collecting
all kinds of jazz especially soul-, -funk, and fusion for about 7 years now.
Fusion stuff is always easier to get because the genre was more popular as a
whole. As far as working with them, I'm helping a friend decimate Weather
Report's "125th Street Congress" (from "Sweetnighter") beat right now.

<< As someone who's in love with the more "out there" jazz fusion of the
early
70s (cf. Miles' BITCHES BREW, Herbie's SEXTANT, Weather Report's first
coupla albums for more common examples), I'm wondering if there's anyone in
the aj scene who's mining similar territory. Don't feel limited by these
examples-- generally, I'm interested in pure instrumental work featuring a
nicely phased Fender Rhodes, live drums, and maybe some spacey electronics,
guitar, etc.

Many thanks in advance,
