I'm pretty sure that it is a mixture of the two, but I can never be sure
what the balance is. There are some sounds on the Album that are almost
certainly done on turntables (i.e. scratches and the "turning off the
deck with the needle still down" effect at the end of the Numbers
Game"), and having had the pleasure to witness him DJing first hand I
can also vouch for his ability. However, one point that no-one seems to
have mentioned so far is that a lot of the samples could never be found
on vinyl (unless he pressed them himself which I find unlikely) such as
the samples from "The Prince of Darkness" which permeate the album (As
transmissions 1, 2 and 3) and all other samples from films and TV (e.g.
the "It's happening again" sample from Twin Peaks) - surely these must
have been done on a sampler of some sort.
