Mark, nothing happening really. I tried to give Ipswich a kick up the arse
about 3 years ago, but didn't get much of a reaction. I persuaded the landlord
at this pub down on the docks to let me play. I thought it was a really nice
venue. I started off with a Wednesday night which was pretty quiet, but
gradually picked up and the landlord then decided to let me have Saturday
night. Anyway, the landlord was replaced on the first Saturday I played. It
went OK - quite a few people and I'm sure it would have picked up. Anyway, some
twat started a fight in there and the new landlord somehow decided this must
be because there was a DJ (???). I got the elbow.

Back then I really was a vinyl junkie. Every payday, I'd be up to Soho and
spend 300 quid on the latest stuff. Over the past 2-3 years my focus has
changed somewhat. I haven't bought any "new" records for ages. I've been hidden
away building up my collection of oldies. Some of my recent faves are:

Gene McDaniels - Headless Heroes of The Apocalypse
Marlena Shaw - Spice of Life
Pretty Purdie - Soul Drums
Jackie Edwards & The Soul Makers - The Vamp (45)
Peter Herbolzheimer - Live Im Onkel Po
Ceasar Frazier-75
Rufus Harley - Recreation of the Gods

Anyway, I was living in Felixstowe and I've just bought a house in Ipswich.
I've been thinking lately that I'd like to find somewhere to play again. I
think I need to either find a pub to play in by myself or hook up with soemone
else and do a club night. I really haven't a clue about the latest stuff (most
of what you lot go on about on this list!), so I'd probably need a partner in
crime. Perhaps if I can get paid to play somewhere and start subsidising my
habit again I can get back into buying new stuff.

If I get anything going Mark, I'll let you know. I don't suppose you do any
DJing yourself? Where's the new job by the way? I work for BT.

Welcome to Ipswich,
Alex
