Level 42 / Eric Serra

Yeah. Every single track they've done gets props (apart from the dodgy
mid-eighties stuff). I pretty much learnt to play bass by listening to
Mark King. He is very influenced by Stanley Clarke (which is far from a
bad thing) and you can still hear 42's sound in most of the British AJ
bands (IMHO). Stuart Zender (Jamiroquai) could be a complete facsimile,
as could any number of other bass players. (Myself included).

-------------------

Eric Serra (Soundtrack of 5th Element, Subway, Leon) is a nice bass
player as well. If you have seen Subway, he is the bass player in the
band that Christopher Lambert sets up. The piece he plays at the
birthday party is my own personal 'try this expensive bass out in a
crowded music shop' tune. It never fails to annoy (along with Hot Water
or Lessons in love !!!!!

--------------------

Playing now
Jaco Pastorius - Come on Come over (I'll learn to play the chorus one day
honest).
