I'm sorry, but I just "don't get" some of the comments (or ASSUMPTIONS),
being dropped on the list lately...
"...mostly white people on the list..." - (notmusic) RE: BET, 10/30/97
"...most of you are in college... would be wanna be's..." - (markgivens) RE:
Vinyl Pressing, 11/01/97
I'm trying not to be disgusted or insulted by these, what I would consider
narrow-minded, quotes.
I, for one, have found this list and it's members to be extremely diverse and
for the most part, informative -- as one should expect from a list about acid
jazz -- a music that, in itself, draws on such a variety of styles that it
spans not only culture and ethnicity, but also age, class and musical taste.
I am enjoying being a part of this list, and have made some incredible
friends along the way. I don't think it's necessary to illustrate the
breakdown, but trust me, I have living proof of the diversities of this list,
as I'm sure many of you do. The bottom line is -- let's try to be a little
more broad-minded about who we're communicating with here, and don't forget
-- it's the music that matters.
