Depends on how creative you are in tweaking things, I assume. It's easy to use
soul jazz because most of it is 4/4, already has the rhythm, attitude, the
"lingo" and the great fat sounds (think Hammond B-3's, Fender Rhodes' or
clavinettes). But, I've heard people use be-bop and hard bop lines very
creatively and effectively as well.

Dear List:

In the course of dissing me someone mention that i new DirK Diddley
about Jazz. Now, I never let the way a truth is couched prevent me from
discerning it. So I am
asking: if I were a hip hop producer- of the Tribe Dj Premier
variety- who used Jazz beats what unused uncompiled(blue note Breaks
1-3) beats would I check for? Generally which
period/style is most hip hoppable :Be bop fusion souljazz ?

Think horns basslines keyboard parts drums(though jazz time is
different a lot of times)

Sure I like Jazz.......for the Samples!!
