Guess where Portishead gets their samples?

I was thumbing through the latest issue of _Spin_ which has an article on
Beth Gibbons of Portishead.
There was an insteresting part where they mention that while making their
self-titled latest release,
in order to avoid having the same drum loops as all the Portishead trip-hop
clones, they made their own beats from scratch, recorded them with 60s-70s
studio methods, had them pressed to vinyl, and then had the vinyl
intentionally 'scratched up' before the beats were then sampled. The
article also mentioned that this unusual pre-production process was
extremely costly as well...I guess that explains why it took so long for
the new album to come out.
