D*Note's new one is the future of music, at least for me. Listen to Matt
Winn's music, and then try to analyse his music! It's incredible. You get
classical music (I was wondering if Matt Winn has a classical education,
but I think so, because when you learn flute you have to go through a lot
of classical stuff), classical arrangements, jungle, trip-hop, acid jazz,
and even a house beat on "Waiting hopefully", together with Pamela
Anderson's gorgeous vocals, which fit perfect to D*Note's sound.
The remixes I know of are from "Waiting hopefully", and are house remixes,
which I really love. The house remixes are done by Deep Dish (urgh, they
are aweful, don't touch them - scratch them), Faze Action and Lil Louis,
and the Faze Action and Lil' Louis remix are great. Lil Louis remix is a
Nuyorican Soul-like opus, with an incredible live bass and all that, while
Faze Action is typical Nuphonic sound, with a lot of strings and harps over
a repeating bass line. I saw 4Hero remixes for "Waiting hopefully", but 14
bucks for a 10" was way too much for me.
I heard that Matt Winn also directed a movie which was broadcasted on
London public TV some while ago. The new CD was the soundtrack to this
movie. They cover and pictures on the CD are taken from the movie. Has
anyone seen it? I would love to hear some details, because I can imagine
that this is only another proof of his creativity.
Everything, of course, is released on Virgin, because nowadays Dorado
belongs to Virgin (as far as I know).
Peace, Gilbert
