Greetings from a fellow Count Basic fan. Count Basic happened to be
one of my first introductions to "acid jazz" (I was a late bloomer).
I heard a track by them on a "This is Acid Jazz" comp and have been
hooked ever since. It has led me headlong into this all encompassing
world of "acid jazz" (i.e. Drum & bass, jungle, rare groove, jazz
funk,...etc).

If you thought "Movin' in the right direction" was good, you
definitely need to get your hands on their debut album, "Life,
think it over". The "M.L. in the sunshine" track on there is what
did it for me. I love that breezy, flowing vibe and Peter Laget
jams on guitar. For me this was an easy crossover from the
contemporary jazz (Spyro Gyra, Rippingtons, Special EFX,..etc) that
I had been listening to.

I recently acquired the other two releases from Count Basic. The
"Remix Hit Collection" features some excellent reworkings by Kruder &
Dorfmeister. My favorite tracks were done up by Vlado Dzihan (from
the M.C. Sultan crew) and Rodney Hunter and Demon Flowers. Their
newest release is "Count Basic-Live" featuring the tremendous vocal
stylings of Kelli Sae. If you liked "Movin'...", then you've got to
hear Count Basic doing the live thang. Check out
www.bmg.co.at/spray/count.htm for more info.

Later,

Devon
