Well, of course, as with every other label, its limiting. Just like
Tricky, he feels he's capable of so many more styles, which is why he
hates the term "Trip Hop" and Pre-Millenium tension was so different
from Maxinquaye. I suppose, if you were describing them, the title that
would best fit is trip hop, but once again, labels are very limiting.

Dear List:

I consider Portishead to be trip-hop (vocal). True they and ames
Lavelle hate the term. But yet it persists. why? Because it fits.
I also consider them to be part of the Sad-girl movement. This lumps
together Portishead Ebtg(great album of Jungle lite) and Mazzy starr in
a group where girls sing like they just shot up before they stepped to
the mike. I once asked why these people hate trip hop so much. I
forgot the answer. still I feel its time(for them)to stop whining and
learn to love the term. Now what do yu call Wall of sound and the
Chemicals(triprock?)
