Her name is Gal Costa. I don't know much about her, but I've got a 2LP "Best
of" of hers from Brazil. I don't like all of the material on the album, but
there's a few great tracks on there. My faves are "Sebastiana", "Flor De
Maracuja" and "Meu Nome E Gal" (please don't slate me for my spelling!). I did
a bit of digging just now and found out that her partner in crime was Bahian
Caetano Veloso. I found this out at the All Music Guide. It's a brilliant
resource and it's FREE. The AMG page for Gal Costa has a short biography, a
